November is here, and that means that Thanksgiving is only three weekends away. Which means that Christmas and Hanukkah and the other winter-time holidays are only about seven weeks away. Crazy, right?! To be honest, I started listening to Christmas music two days ago.

If you’re anything like us, you may be hoping to get some of your holiday shopping done on or around Black Friday – after all, it pays (well, saves) to be a savvy shopper, especially when it comes to newer technology releases. At this stage, precise Black Friday 2016 deals have yet to be confirmed; however, that doesn’t mean we don’t have a good idea of the sort of tech-y goodies you’ll be able to snap up on the cheap, so we’ve rounded up a list of the top technology products to look out for this holiday season. Be sure to make any tech-savvy family member or friend happy by keeping an eye out for these products, which are shaping up to be the most popular steals of the shopping season!

New Phones

iphone7It’s no surprise that the latest Apple smartphone – the iPhone 7 – will be a big-ticket item this year. Although many were disappointed with the new device, considering it to have a lack of innovative features, it is worth looking into if you’re in the market for a new phone. With advanced new camera systems, improved performance and battery life over other iPhones, immersive stereo sound and the brightest, most colorful iPhone display, you could do worse. Also available is the new Samsung Galaxy S7. With its 12.0MP camera and microSD card slot for up to an extra 256GB memory, you can capture tons of content and store it all in one place.

Wearable Fitness Trackers

Fitness wearables aren’t going anywhere, and this might be a gift that keeps giving into the New Year as you or your loved ones set health-related resolutions. The newest Apple Watch Series 2 has built-in GPS, is water resistance to 50 meters, has a new lightning-fast dual-core processor, and a 2x brighter display for increased visibility in direct sunlight. The Fitbit Charge 2 Heart Rate + Fitness Wristband is also a good option that can help you monitor your activity, steps, distance, calories burned, heart rate, sleep and more.

Wireless Headphones

There is an increasing trend towards wireless headphones (in part, thanks to the fact that some of the newer smartphones come without a headphone jack). These can be great for exercising, and allow you to get up and walk around without being attached to or limited by your phone. Be sure to look for a set with a long battery life, that connect to your phone or other device at a wide enough perimeter, are sweat-resistant, and comfortable to wear.

Virtual Reality Gaming Systems

The state-of-the-art virtual reality video and gaming systems on the market are sure to bring out the kid in anybody! With Oculus Rift, the remote, OLED display and IR LED sensor help you navigate through virtual worlds, while rotational and positional tracking let you play exclusive games like Lucky’s Tale. You can also immerse yourself in a vivid virtual world of gaming with the new Sony headset for the PlayStation VR. Its 3D audio technology makes sounds sharper and clearer, while the advanced VR display creates an incredibly lifelike gaming experience. But be aware – this might not be the best gift for those who experience motion sickness (trust me on this).

Voice Controlled Speaker Devices

OK so I genuinely want one of these so that I can turn on music or control my Chromecast without disturbing my dog when she’s sleeping in my lap (this is normal, yes?). Google Home is a voice-activated speaker powered by the Google assistant. You can ask it questions and tell it to do things by using the voice command “Ok Google.” Google Home is compatible with Android and iOS operating systems, and can control compatible smart devices such as Chromecast or Nest. Amazon Echo is also a great option – it connects to the Alexa Voice Service to control smart home devices, play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more.

Dji mavic proDrones are becoming hugely popular for adventurers, photographers, and videographers alike! We like the DJI Mavic Pro Drone for its ease of use, as well as its easy portability (it’s foldable!).

Once you make your list of holiday shopping, be sure to keep checking around for the best deals. We like Black Friday FM because it corrals the Black Friday ads from many different stores and makes it easy to compare sales. Happy shopping!
